Why don't Christian missionaries target Britain rather than India?

When Christian missionaries target India they are bringing discord to a highly religious and spiritual country, where most people believe in God and at least value a moral life. They bring division to a society where generally religions are inclusive and accepting.

In Britain a small number of people are religious. The exact number is hard to say, when asked if they “know that God exists without a doubt” 23% say yes, but when asked “which comes closest to your belief” 56% responded with an answer that indicated that they had some belief. Even if this number have some belief, most don’t act on it, regular religious involvement is only 7.5%. You only have to go to a city centre in Britain at night to see that many young people regularly get drunk and live only for sensual pleasure.

A few weeks ago my wife and I attended a “Gouanga (ISKCON) festival” at our Hindu temple. There we met a young woman who had joined ISKCON after attending one of these festivals, where she realised that there was more to life than getting drunk. She now works for ISKCON in the UK. She said a couple of years ago she would have probably been drunk in the gutter. At the festival she contemplated Krishna for the first time, and felt that there was something spiritual inside her.

Why, with so many people living a non-spiritual life, don’t Christian missionaries target the UK? Surely this is a country where spirituality could bring great benefit?

I believe that it is because they know that they cannot easily offer bribes and inducements in a relatively rich country. This is the reason that they oppose laws in India that ban forced religious conversions. They know that this is their easiest way to success. For them religion is not about improved behaviour, spirituality or social adhesion, they would willingly sacrifice those to win in the numbers game. All that matters is the number who say they are Christian. That is enough. The fact is that despite the lack of belief, 71% of the British population say they are Christian is enough for them.

A Christian who is violent to members of other faiths, rarely thinks about God, acts immorally and is drunk in the city centre every night is saved. There is no point in missionaries taking notice of them where there are peaceful and tolerant members of other faiths to target. If only they could get them all to be like the Christians!

  1. In general, Mankind has not been able to reconcile our awareness that we are unique, thinking, planning creatures with the possibility that when we die, all forms of personal future die with us; that when it’s over, it really is over. That sort of thinking seems to be intolerable to us.

So, we hatch up all these schemes to keep moving along in some manner or another, living in some sense in some place inacessible so long as we are living this life. And since there are so many variants on the theme of continued life after “death”, and that in order to have validity in the minds of the followers the different religious solutions to that great conundrum must be fervently believed, there is naturally going to be competition for believers with rewards and punishments meted out for certain behaviours.

But like biological life, religions that do not propogate perish. Above all else, religions have an inate capacity and even commandment to enlarge their ranks at the expense of other religions. So like the other commenter points out, many times personal behaviour is less importat whether or not the “numbers” are good enough.

    • Dont compare Christian and Islam religion with Sanathana Dharma because religion is a word corrupted by Christians and Muslims.

Hindus follow Sanathana Dharma( Eternal righteousness/law/duty)

    • Interview of a Christian Evangelist in India

      By: Bandyopadhyay Arindam

The world today could have been a much better place for all of us, had we all refrained from trying to prove the superiority of our own religion………..

This is an interview of “Father Johnson’ after his award by the Government of India for his exemplary work in India in enlightening the people in the path of the ONLY God. Father Johnson returned to the USA after 10 years of service, to uplift the people of India in the name of God. The interview was taken in July 2005 by a journalist in Houston, USA……

Welcome home Father. You have been in India for 10 years, where “our mission’ is still going on. Tell me Father, how is India?

India is a fascinating country, a land of contrasts. Modern India is the largest democracy, the budding economic superpower, with the second-largest pool of scientists and engineers in the world. India is also the only surviving ancient civilization with over one sixth of the world population. At one time, not so long ago, when Europe was in the “dark ages’ and America was not even “discovered’, India was a far advanced and developed country with a contribution of over 25% of world GDP till the 17th century and far advanced in all aspects of life, be it knowledge, philosophy, science, mathematics, arts, astronomy or navigation.

Ella Wheeler Wilcox, (1850-1919), American poet and journalist, wrote “India – The land of Vedas, the remarkable works contain not only religious ideas for a perfect life, but also facts which science has proved true. Electricity, radium, electronics, airship, all were known to the seers who founded the Vedas.”

Dick Teresi, American author of “Lost Discoveries’ mentioned “Some one thousand years before Aristotle, the Vedic people asserted that the earth was round and circled the sun….Two thousand years before Pythagoras, philosophers in northern India had understood that gravitation held the solar system together, and that therefore the sun, the most massive object, had to be at its center….Twenty-four centuries before Isaac Newton, the Hindu Rig-Veda asserted that gravitation held the universe together….. The Sanskrit speaking people subscribed to the idea of a spherical earth in an era when the Greeks believed in a flat one…..The Indians of the fifth century A.D. calculated the age of the earth as 4.3 billion years; scientists in 19th century England were convinced it was 100 million years…”

Despite all its riches, history says that India never invaded any country. On the contrary, India has been repeatedly assaulted and conquered by numerous invaders and has been ruled by “foreigners’, first the Muslims and then the British for over a thousand years. India, before the advent of the British rulers, was a rich and prosperous country.
Rev. Jabez T. Sunderland (1842-1936), Unitarian minister and reformer, wrote that “…when the British first appeared on the scene, India was one of the richest countries of the world; indeed, it was her great riches that attracted the British to her shores. For 2,500 years before the British came on the scene and robbed her of her freedom, India was self-ruling and one of the most influential and illustrious nations of the world ….. This wealth was created by the Hindus’ vast and varied industries.”

What about Hinduism as a religion?

Hinduism has a deep philosophical and spiritual heritage that has repeatedly mesmerized the world including western scientists, leaders and philosophers. Despite propaganda to the contrary, Hindus, like us, believes in one Supreme God but they do so in many forms, that helps to develop personalized relations. Hinduism is the oldest major religion in the earth with 900 million followers. Unlike monotheistic institutionalized, religions like Judaism, Islam or Christianity, it is not based on any single prophet or scripture, but allows its followers all the freedom to pursue God and Truth in their own way, while living harmoniously with all creation.

We know that the Hindus are tolerant of other religions. Recently, UNESCO pointed out that out of 128 countries where Jews lived before Israel was created, only one, India, did not persecute them and allowed them to prosper and practice Judaism in peace. Similarly the Zoroastrians, when driven out of Persia by Islam were given shelter by the Hindus in India and still coexist in India peacefully. Very recently, the Dalai Lama, driven from Buddhist Tibet, has been accepted with open arms. Such is the ethos of Hinduism and India.

I have heard that Mark Twain once said that “In religion all other countries are paupers; India is the only millionaire’. I have also read Arnold Toynbee’s writing “…at the religious level, India has not been a recipient; she has been a giver. About half the total number of the living, higher religions are of Indian origin’. What do you think about it?

We know India gave birth to religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism. Hinduism, though the predominant religion, has, to quote Aldous Huxley, “never been a persecuting faith, have preached almost no holy wars and have refrained from that proselytizing religious imperialism which has gone hand in hand with political and economic oppression of colored people.’

What many do not know and I will not elaborate further for obvious reasons, is that there are researchers who think that the teachings of Jesus Christ have something to do with the ancient wisdom of Vedas. The Hindu concepts of “karma’, and “reincarnation’, which are part of the New Age Movement that we see today, were not unknown to Jesus.

Then Father, why do we need to convert people in India?

You see, we in the western world, have the “white man’s burden’ of civilizing the rest of the world. We also have the need and desire to spread the message of Christ, since we believe that it is the ONLY way to salvation and all other nonbelievers will go to hell. The faith in Christianity is being eroded in Europe and America. That is why our Pope on his visit to India said, “Just as in the first millennium, the Cross was planted on the soil of Europe, and in the second on that of the Americas and Africa, we can pray that in the third Christian millennium a great harvest of faith will be reaped in this vast and vital continent.’

      Why do you target India?

India is the right country because Hindu Indians are generally peace-loving tolerant, law abiding people who are truthful and virtuous. India”s devotion to being good rather than being clever comes nearer the heart of a true civilization, said W. J. Grant, in his book,
“The spirit of India’. The unsuspecting Indians have always welcomed everybody on their shore and still keep on doing so. You cannot say the same about a Muslim country or of communist China. You see Hindus are such naive – they go out of their way to say that “all religions are same – they all lead to God’. Christians and for that matter, no other religion, says that.

Where does your resource come from?

There are five major aid-giving countries, viz., USA, Germany, Britain, Italy and the Netherlands. According to the available data, in the last decade alone, foreign aid organizations received more than 2.5 billion dollars. This is only official statistics. According to the record and report of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the statistics about the foreign aid being received by Indian Non Government Organizations shows that 80% of it is meant only for the Christian organizations that have been buying their ways into the Indian society and converting unsuspecting people under the guise of social service.

How powerful is Christianity in India?

Oh, though we are only 2.4% of the population officially, we have a large control over the country because of our economic invasion. You see, the present leader of the main political party-The Congress Party of India is a Roman Catholic with close contact with the Vatican. There are Christian Chief ministers in 5 out of 29 states. Because of the British rule of India, we have a large section of the leaders of India who look up to us. Believe me, we are the second largest land owners in India. We own and control 80% of the Indian media like NDTV 24*7, CNN-IBN ,AAJ TAK, THE TEHELKA etc and newspapers .The best example is how these media made a huge hue and cry over the Gujarat riots.Riots have happened everywhere in India. But in case of Gujarat riots, the reports were deliberately inflated, stories were built up and a systematic, planned malicious and slanderous campaign was launched against the NDA government.
Inspite of the fact that India took giant leaps in progress in every field and there was a surge in National pride and self confidence for every Indian during their tenure,India’s Most Popular Government led by India’s Finest Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was made to suffer shock defeat. We overtly or covertly have alliance with key political associations. So it is very easy for us to influence the right people.

You must have a very organized system?

Yes, we do. Have you heard about the Joshua Project? It identifies and highlights the people groups of the world that have the least exposure to the Gospel and the least Christian presence and shares this information to encourage pioneer church-planting movements among every ethnic group. The Joshua Project has identified the North India Hindi belt as “the core of the core of the core” because of its population density (40% of the Indian population- the states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh lies in this region); it is the religious hub of India; and it has the smallest Christian presence in India. Thus detailed plans have been drawn up to target India’s 75,000 Pin Codes.

The Seventh Day Adventists owes its Indian success to Canadian evangelist Ron Watts, President for the South Asian Division. When he entered India, in 1997, the Adventist Church had 225,000 members after 103 years of operations. In five years, he took it to 700,000.

Some methods used include the 10-Village and the 25-Village Programs, which involve five sets of laymen, under guidance from a regular pastor, who identify 10 or 25 villages in close proximity. Once the villages were selected, the teams would approach the leaders of each village and invite them to send two leaders to a 10-day seminar at a nearby resort, at the organization’s expense. It is before no time that the local leaders will then start working for our faith and organization. In 1998, there were seventeen 10-Village Programs and 9,337 were baptized. In 1999, forty programs were held and nearly 40,000 people baptized.
Under the Christian Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. Samuel Rajashekar Reddy, the Adventists shifted to a 50-village plan. They began baptizing at the rate of 10,000 persons per month and have increased it to 5,000 persons per day all over India.

The US-based Maranatha Volunteers International provides buildings for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. They are committed to build 750 churches in 2 years in India. The Oregon based, Fjarli family have a goal to build 1000 churches at a rate of 1 per day.

How do you carry out conversion attempts?

You see the local people are so simple and naïve that they do not have any clue as what out motive or means are. We target mostly the poor, illiterate, tribal people because they are the easiest to convert. We do that by various means – we establish schools, hospitals that overtly or subtly promote our faith, we allure them with money or goods to the needy when they convert, we “stage’ miracle cures, we use our influence on the media, we use our experts in propaganda, we promote the influential people and so on. We use the money sent to us by unsuspecting religious and faithful Christians from all over the world. We have numerous NGO and AID organizations to funnel the money into the country. There are a great number of missionaries of various denominations who are working there, all literally competing for the most number of converts. The Southern Baptists alone are a group that has nearly 100,000 career missionaries in North India, all working to spread our “good word.”

We convince the “natives’ by our appearances and even use their own culture. A native converted person will continue to use his Hindu name so as not to alienate himself. Some of the numerous Catholic priests in Southern India dress like “sannyasis’ (monks), and call their organizations “ashramas’ (hermitage). This is to make Christianity more similar to the Vedic traditions. Bharat Natyam, the classical dance of India, is also taught in the Christian schools, but with Christian symbols and meanings replacing the Vedic. This is all in the attempt to actively sway Hindus over to Christianity. The Evangelical Church of India (ECI), established in 1954, targets the slums, scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, in cities and villages. Its logo depicts a cross struck deep in a lotus, the seat of Hindu divinity.

Is the so called caste system in India an advantage?

The “Caste-ism in India’ is a boon to us. Though Varna or caste was once an essential part of the culture, based on occupation and vocational skills, which kept the civilization going for over 5000 years, caste-ism is a degenerated socio-political system now that has been declared illegal. However it is one big weapon against Hinduism. We have learnt from the colonial British that it is very easy to divide the population on the basis of caste and religion based politics and we use it to our own interest to the maximum. We join the anti-Hindu forces and help to keep the stigma of caste-ism alive for our own benefit. We target the “untouchables’ (the unprivileged people, that has so marvelously crafted to be a result of the Hindu religion and not the social system) and convert them in the lure of “liberating’ them. However I must confess that we maintain their “untouchability’ by not allowing them to mix with the general Christians, maintaining separate entry to churches and even giving them separate churches and cemeteries.

We also use opportunities that God gives us. During natural disasters like floods, earthquakes and the recent Tsunami, taking advantage of the need, we were able to convert successfully entire low caste villages in Tamil Nadu to Christianity with the lure of money and aid.

How successful are you in your conversion attempts.

Oh we are doing a good job. The Northeast Indian states like Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur, have witnessed a surge of nearly 200% in their Christian population in the past 25 years. Their grasp is so strong now that practicing Hinduism is forbidden in some areas. Hindus can no longer do worship or “puja’ in the open because of our influence.
In another northeast state, Tripura, where there were no Christians at the time of India’s independence, 55 years ago, there are now over 120,000 today. The figures are even more striking in Arunachal Pradesh, where there were only 1710 Christians in 1961, but over 1 million today, along with over 780 churches. In the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, churches are coming-up every day in far flung villages and there is an attempt to set-up one near Tirupati, the world famous Hindu temple. Many of the North-East separatist movements, such as the Mizo or the Bodos, are not only Christian dominated, but also sometimes function with the covert backing of the missionaries. Christian Nagaland terrorists have been killing non-Christians for decades on end. More than 20,000 people have lost their lives to insurgency in Assam and Manipur in the past two decades. We understand that there are some social problems that crept up – the northeast states are the highest in India in terms of drugs and AIDS related problem – but we accept that as “casualties of war” –that should not deter us from our goal.

      Do you face any resistance?

Of course we do. But we brand any resistance as “Hindu fundamentalism or militancy” and the media and our favorite leaders take care of the rest. We have set the mind of the unsuspecting population in a way, that whenever any of our people are harassed, attacked or killed, from any reason including their own faults, the blame automatically goes to these so called “Hindu fundamentalist and Communal Elements” and even though almost all of these instances are later proved to have nothing to do with these Hindu groups, the initial hue and cry that is raised makes sure the memories persist in the mind of the populace and the sympathy stays with us. There are instances when nuns have been proved to be raped by Christians, but the blames continues to stay with the Hindus.

      Is there any legal barrier?

Yes there are some rules and laws that sometimes impair our activities. The Indian Supreme Court had declared that: “The right to propagate religion does not mean the right to convert… Conversion done under allurement, use of force and fraud in which the poverty or ignorance of the individual is taken advantage of, is not only undemocratic but also unconstitutional…Respect for all religions is the foundation of secularism whereas the seeds of conversion lie in religious intolerance.”. Anti conversion laws have been passed in various states. But as I said, we have our ways.

Sometimes the law does get us though. We had some instances where members of our faith have been convicted with resultant imprisonment or expulsion. As in churches all over the world, some clergymen have been penalized for cases of sexual exploitation, including pedophilia. But that does not deter us from our goal and our almighty Lord takes care of our soul.

How satisfied are you with the progress of the missions?

It is really satisfying. We find enormous pleasure in converting the Hindu “pagans’. However I wish we could do more. I wish I could say like St Francis Xavier, during the Goa Inquisition in 1560, “When I have finished baptizing the people, I order them to destroy the huts in which they keep their idols; and I have them break the statues of their idols into tiny pieces, since they are now Christians. I could never come to an end describing to you the great consolation which fills my soul when I see idols being destroyed by the hands of those who had been idolaters.”

Thank you, Father for your time and honesty.
Thank you, my son. God bless you.

      Epilogue

“Christianity offers nothing that is not already available somewhere in the many forms of Hinduism. Hinduism never rejected the teachings of Jesus. Those who have converted either agreed with a gun pressed at their skulls as in Goa, or because it provided an escape from caste tyranny, as well as a guaranteed professional advancement. Through its Vedic legacy, Hinduism respects all faiths. It clearly states that God is one, but has many forms”.
(Paul William Roberts, author of, “Empire of the Soul: Some journeys in India’)

  2. Sounds to me that you are acting as a missionary for the Hindu Faith in the UK, and good luck to you. I feel hopeful that you will not be banned.

  3. I think your reason for why this would happen are quite true. I’d also add that these people are avoiding issues in their own lives by filling their time with controlling others.

But I would add that I think it’s wrong to lump all Christians into the same basket, not all Christian missionaries working in India are fervently trying to convert people. I read a report recently by a Christian missionary returned from India who was particularly angry with the evangelism movement in India.

In fact, I think it’s worth making the distinction between Christian missionaries and those who are really Christian evangelists posing as missionaries.

As for the UK, I suspect the figures for Australia and, to a certain degree, the US (where I suspect most of these evangelists come from) probably aren’t too dissimilar! I agree, they should look after their own first.

  4. Pete Said: Sounds to me that you are acting as a missionary for the Hindu Faith in the UK, and good luck to you. I feel hopeful that you will not be banned.

I am far from a missionary. I have a website that people can access if they want. I don’t preach my religion to anyone, though if someone asks questions about it I do my best to answer them. I could actually do a lot more to inform people about Hinduism within my conscience, and without fear of being banned. David Frawley said that a religion should be offered to others like sweets on a plate, for them to take or leave.

What is wrong is when food and money are offered to starving people in return for conversion, or when fake medicine is given to sick Hindus and real medicine to those praying to Jesus and of course the missionaries say it is the power of Jesus healing. Of course I also believe the tried and tested method of violence, murder and rape of those who refuse to convert.

I find it telling that Christian missionaries oppose laws that would make forced conversions illegal. It shows that they believe that these tactics are justified in increasing their numbers, or implicitly that their God approves of bribery and deception.

  5. johneldon Says: But like biological life, religions that do not propogate perish. Above all else, religions have an inate capacity and even commandment to enlarge their ranks at the expense of other religions.

This is certainly true of Christianity and Islam, but less so of Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism and Sikhism. The view is one held by atheists who see religions as memes. In my opinion once a religion sees itself in that way it has lost its true meaning. The emphasis should be on providing people with a way of knowing God and offering this knowledge to people to take on its own value, without threat, bribery or inducement. Seeing someone say nominally that they follow a religion and then ending up in the gutter should be seen as a failure, not a success.

  6. Pete Says:
I think your reason for why this would happen are quite true. I’d also add that these people are avoiding issues in their own lives by filling their time with controlling others.

I think that is often true. Whereas some missionaries lead good lives, some seem to have dubious morality. I remember hearing about an American Tele-evangelist who was found to take drugs and use prostitutes. His supporters said that he “made up” for this by his evangelism, and should be forgiven because of this. Forgiveness should be due to a person’s sincere regret and attempt to avoid future transgressions, not because they are good in other areas.

  7. My name may sound confusing to many but the fact of the matter is that i am a INDIAN CHRISTIAN who has been in the u.k. for the past 5 years.I read your article saying that why don’t christian missionaries target the u.k.? and you said that in INDIA many people have a moral life. MY FRIEND, I would like to clarify certain things –
    1. CHRISTANITY IS BY FAR THE BEST RELIGION ON EARTH AND INFINITELY SUPERIOR THAN HINDUISIM. When you accuse the whites of living a immoral life then i would say that it is because most of them are rich and it is only human that once a man/woman get rich that they forget about GOD(JESUS CHRIST).
    2. TALKING ABOUT MORALS OF HINDUS- CAN U EXPLAIN TO ME WHY IS INDIA’S POPULATION INCREASING BY A WHOPPING 20 MILLION EVERY YEAR WHEN IT IS SUCH A MORAL COUNTRY (AS HINDUS ARE 80%)OF THE POPULATION. THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS THAT YOUR STUPID CONCEPT OF SALVATION IS THAT YOU DO ANY SIN AND GO AND TAKE A DIP IN THE GANGES AND YOU WILL BE SAVED. HOW IGNORANT AND STUPID THAT CAN BE?
    3. AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH UP WHEN U ACCUSE CHRISTIAN MISSIONARIES OF FORCED CONVERSIONS.MY GRANDFATHER WAS A HINDU PRIEST AND HE CONVERTED VOLUNTARY TO CHRISTANITY ALONG WITH HIS BROTHERS BECAUSE HE REALISED THE TRUTH.
    4. HINDUISIM SHOULD NOT BE CALLED A RELIGION IN THE FIRST PLACE BECAUSE IT IS JUST A GROUPING OF LOCAL TEACHINGS MY SOME MEN.UNFORTUNATELY PEOPLE IN THE WEST AND EUROPE CONSIDER IT TO BE A RELIGION. WHAT THEY DON’T KNOW THAT IT IS INSPIRED BY SATAN HIMSELF ,THAT’S WHY YOU PEOPLE WORSHIP THE SNAKE.
    5. WHAT PEOPLE IN THE WEST DON’T KNOW IS THE REAL FACE OF HINDUISM . IT IS FULL OF BLACK MAGIC,WITCHCRAFT,SORCERY,IDOL WORSHIP( U IDIOTS SAY THAT THERE ARE 360 MILLION GODS AND GODDESSES) HOW STUPID THAT CAN BE!
    6. AND U HINDUS ARE THE MOST SUPERSTITIOUS AND ORTHODOX PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE PH.D’S BUT DEEP DOWN INSIDE YOU STILL ARE BACKWARD MINDED. CAN U EXPLAIN TO ME WHY U STILL TREAT WOMEN AS SECOND CLASS CITIZENS IN THE MAJORITY OF INDIA? OR YOU STILL FOLLOW A 1000 SUPERSTITIONS EVERY SINGLE DAY OF YOUR LIFE.
OR WHY STILL CASTEISM IS WIDELY PRACTISED IN INDIA , IN WHICH BRAHMAN(THE HINDU PRIEST) IS CONSIDERED TO BE SUPERIOR THAN OTHERS.
    7. THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT U HINDUS HATE THE TRUE ABRAHAMIC RELIGIONS(CHRISTANITY,ISLAM AND JUDAISIM) INSPIRED BY THE ONE TRUE GOD FROM THE CORE OF YOUR HEART.THAT IS EVIDENT OF THE VOILENT KILLINGS OF 6,000 MUSLIMS IN GUJRAT IN 2002 AND THE CONTINOUS ATTACKS AND KILLING OF CHRISTIAN MISSIONARIES IN INDIA.ALSO U DISCRIMINATE SO MUCH AGAINST THE CHRISTIANS IN INDIA ,BY DESTROYING THE LIVES OF MANY THOUSANDS OF CHRISTIAN STUDENTS THROUGH YOUR BLACK MAGIC WHICH IS INTEGRAL IN HINDUISIM.
    8. IT REALLY SADDENS ME TO SEE THAT IN THE WEST AND EUROPE CHRISTIANS ARE GOING AGAINST THE MUSLIMS -WHO HAPPEN TO BE THEIR OWN YOUNGER BROTHERS .IF U SEE AT THE RICH ABRAHAMIC HERITAGE MUSLIMS AND CHRISTIANS SHARE.
    9. IN REALITY IT IS U HINDUS WHO ARE THE BIGGEST PROBLEM ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH WHO HATE CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS FROM THE CORE OF THEIR HEART. I JUST WISH THAT PEOPLE IN THE WEST AND EUROPE AND IN THE ARAB COUNTRIES REALISE THIS AND ATLEAST FOR THE TIME BEING FORGET THEIR DIFFERENCES AND JOIN HANDS TO STOP YOU HINDUS FROM COMING TO THE WEST AND ARAB COUNTRIES.BY PUTTING A COMPLETE BAN ON HINDU IMMIGRATION TO U.S.A,CANADA,EUROPE AND ALL ARAB COUNTRIES SO THAT THE RELIGION OF BLACK MAGIC,WITCHCRAFT,SORCERY i.e. HINDUISIM DOES NOT SPREAD ITS EVIL POISON IN THESE LANDS OF ABRAHAMIC RELIGIONS.
    10. IF SOMEONE IS READING THIS THEN THIS MIGHT SOUND TO YOU A LITTLE HARSH ON HINDUISIM BUT TRUST ME THIS IS THE REAL TRUTH AND FACE OF HINDUISIM WHICH UNFORTUNATELY A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE WEST ,EUROPE AND ARAB COUNTRIES DO NOT REALISE. FOR CHRISTIANS , GO AND READ THE BOOK OF ROMANS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHAPTER ONE AND U WILL REALISE WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. AND BEING AN INDIAN CHRISTIAN I KNOW HOW BLOOD THIRSTY HINDUS ARE WHENEVER THEY SEE A INDIAN CHRISTIAN DOING WELL IN LIFE.THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL VENDETTA AGAINST HINDUS BUT THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH WHICH I HAVE REALISED IN THE WORLD. IF ANY OF YOU ARE INTERESTED THEN U CAN ALWAYS CONTACT ME ON MY E-MAIL WHICH IS vondra_guy@yahoo.co.uk

  8. I believe you have just illustrated the kind of “religious tolerance” that Evangelical Christians want to bring to India. You want a world where people are banned from entering countries because of religious beliefs. Of course “black magic” and “black mass” are Christian concepts. You have been fully indoctrinated to believe that Hindus follow Satan. I think you have illustrated my point well.

I have given an extended answer to this comment in “Analysis of Comments from an Indian Christian“.

  9. O.K., SO MR. CHRIS YOU SAID THAT I SHOWED THE KIND OF TOLERANCE EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS WANT TO BRING IN INDIA.I WILL TELL U A FEW THINGS:-
    1. I AM FAR FROM A EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN,BUT U TELL ME IN WHICH RELIGION OF THE WORLD DOES ONE GOD FIGHTS ANOTHER GOD FOR HIS WIFE? OR WHERE THE OTHER GOD HAS 16,000 GIRLFRIENDS (LORD KRISHNA),WOW!SO MUCH FUN, RIGHT MR. CHRIS?
    2. IN WHICH RELIGION OF THE WORLD CAN THE HOLY MEN EASLIY TAKE PEOPLE’S LIVES THROUGH HIS POWERS. GO TO INDIA ,JUST TELL THE NAME,DATE OF BIRTH,AND TIME WHEN SOMEONE WAS BORN AND SEE HOW THE BRAHMANS AND SADHUS (HINDU HOLY MEN) WITH THE HELP OF TANTRA CAN PLAY SOCCER WITH HIS REAL LIFE,WILL MAKE HIM SUFFER FOR 15 YEARS OF HIS LIFE ,EVERY DAY BEING WORSE THAN HELL UNTIL HE DIES. CAN A CHRISTIAN PRIEST EVER DO THAT ?THE ANSWER IS A BIG NO,BECAUSE BLACK MAGIC AND WITCHCRAFT ARE NON-EXISTENT IN CHRISTIAN FAITH AND MOST PROMINENT IN HINDUISIM WHICH HAS GOT SO MANY GODS AND GODESSES IN IT WHICH EMBODY BLACK MAGIC.
    3. THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS THAT MOST PEOPLE LIKE YOU, HAVE BECOME SO UNGRATEFUL TO GOD(JESUS CHRIST) THAT INSPITE OF HE GIVING EVERYTHING TO YOU YOU HAVE TURNED A BLIND EYE TO HIM AND INDULGE YOURSELF IN ALL THE WORLDLY PLEASURES OF THIS LIFE.
    4. YOU HAVE GOT FOOD IN YOUR BELLIES EVERY NIGHT,U GOT A HOUSE,A CAR ETC.,SO YOU ARE TOTALLY IGNORANT OF WHAT THE TRUTH IS AND OPENLY SUPPORT A RELIGION (HINDUISIM) WHICH PROMOTES IDOL WORSHIP,HAS 360 MILLION GODS AND GODDESSES ,IS FULL OF BLACK MAGIC AND WITCHCRAFT AND WHOSE FOLLOWERS (HINDUS) HATE CHRISTANITY AND CHRISTIANS SO MUCH THAT EVEN THE DEVIL’S HATRED FOR GOD WILL FAIL IN COMPARISON TO THEIR HATE. AND IF YOU DON’T BELEIVE THIS GO AND TAKE A TRIP TO THE STATE OF GUJRAT IN INDIA WHERE MOST HINDUS OF THE U.K. COME FROM AND ASK THE CHRISTIANS OVER THERE HOW THEIR FAITH AND THEY THEMSELVES ARE TREATED BY THE HINDUS .
    5. YOU KNOW SOMETHING MR. CHRIS ,I WOULD PLACE THE BLACK CHRISTIANS IN THE U.K. FAR BETTER THAN PEOPLE LIKE YOU. SIMPLY BECAUSE MOST OF THEM ARE FROM POOR COUNTRIES,THEY KNOW HOW TO BE GRATEFUL WHEN THEY HAVE FOOD IN THEIR BELLIES,FOR PEOPLE LIKE U IT IS NOTHING SPECIAL,RIGHT? THAT’S WHY MOST OF THE CHURCHES IN U.K. ARE DOMINATED BY THE BLACKS.
    6. I WOULD ALSO PLACE THE MUSLIMS OF THE WORLD FAR BETTER THEN PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO HAVE A GREAT DEAL OF RESPECT FOR THEIR RELIGION AND HERITAGE AND IN SOME COUNTRIES LIKE SAUDI ARABIA ETC. DO NOT GIVE CITIZENSHIP TO HINDUS (ALL IDOL WORSHIPPERS), BECAUSE THEY KNOW THE TRUTH.
    7. PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD JUST GO TO THE PUB,BOOZE AROUND,ENJOY LIFE TILL U DROP IN A GUTTER SO THAT THESE HINDUS CAN OPENLY CRITICISE CHRISTANITY AND THEN CAN INTRODUCE U TO ALL THEIR FALSE GODS WHICH THEN U WILL WHOLE HEARTEDLY ACCEPT,RIGHT?I GUESS IT SHOULDN’T BE DIFFICULT TO REMEMBER THE NAMES OF JUST 360 MILLION GODS AND GODDESES.
    8. I KNOW U WILL NOT BELEIVE A WORD OF WHAT POINT I AM TRYING TO CONVEY. BUT UNFORTUNATELY PEOPLE DON’T REALIZE SOMETHING UNTIL AND UNLESS IT HAPPENS TO THEM. U WILL REALISE THIS 20 YEARS DOWN THE LINE ,WHEN U WILL SEE YOUR OWN KIDS,FRIENDS SUFFER THROUGH HINDU BLACK MAGIC IN FRONT OF YOUR OWN EYES, WHEN YOUR BUSINESS WILL FAIL TO PROSPER,WHEN INSPITE HOW HARD U TRY U WILL NEVER SUCCEED IN LIFE WHATEVER U MIGHT DO.THIS IS WHEN HINDUISIM WILL BE WIDESPREAD IN U.K.
    9. AS IT IS MOST PEOPLE LIKE YOU JUST WANT TO EXPERIENCE SENSUAL PLEASURES IN LIFE.SO IT IS NOT SUPRISING THAT U GUYS SUPPORT
A RELIGION IN WHICH SEX IS A INTEGRAL PART(INDIA BEING A LAND OF KAMASUTRA) .SO, BLINDLY SUPPORT AND PROMOTE A RELIGION OF SEX,WITCHCRAFT,BLACK MAGIC,360 MILLION GODS AND GODESSES,WHICH GIVES U THE LIBERTY TO DO WHATEVER U LIKE ,ACT LIKE ANIMALS WITH NO MORALS,TAKE BRIBES (THAT’S WHY INDIA IS ONE OF THE MOST CORRUPT COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD) AND WHENEVER U FEEL U HAVE SINNED ENOUGH JUST TAKE A BATH IN THE RIVER GANGES SO THAT ALL YOUR SINS WILL BE FORGIVEN.

  10. I find it interesting that you talk about the caste system in India but then come out with obviously bigoted comments like this:

YOU KNOW SOMETHING MR. CHRIS ,I WOULD PLACE THE BLACK CHRISTIANS IN THE U.K. FAR BETTER THAN PEOPLE LIKE YOU. SIMPLY BECAUSE MOST OF THEM ARE FROM POOR COUNTRIES,THEY KNOW HOW TO BE GRATEFUL WHEN THEY HAVE FOOD IN THEIR BELLIES,FOR PEOPLE LIKE U IT IS NOTHING SPECIAL,RIGHT?

I have seen much more hatred in your post than I ever have from someone in an inclusive religion such as Buddhism, Hinduism or Sikhism. I also appreciate the Christian attitude that

PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD JUST GO TO THE PUB,BOOZE AROUND,ENJOY LIFE TILL U DROP IN A GUTTER SO THAT THESE HINDUS CAN OPENLY CRITICISE CHRISTANITY [sic] AND THEN CAN INTRODUCE U TO ALL THEIR FALSE GODS WHICH THEN U WILL WHOLE HEARTEDLY ACCEPT,RIGHT?

No Hindu would ever encourage someone to “go to the pub and booze around”. Spiritual progress is your own responsibility. I guess that you are so full of venom because in your soul you know that a God that will condemn good men for mistaken belief cannot be the true, merciful, good God. That the idea that you are saved so you can do what you want and go to heaven is really an empty message. I hope that you discover true spiritual progress, whether it be within Christianity or on some other path.

  11. sir a very good and apt condition ..you are absolutely right……i have read JOHN SINGH’S posts..they are not right actuallly.many poor hindus are brainwashed to christianisn and now in india they are really intollerent and attacks holy temples..still hindus here are tollerent enough to say that they are our brothers.condistionin gujrath is different .hinduism is so strong that they are not able to convert people.poor missionaries failed well in north india, thats why that JOHN SINGH says so.never mind.

  12. Hi John,

You claim to be a believer and then have so much hate for other people. Jesus has not come to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.

You cant win a single sould through hatered.

And why are you so concerned with what hindus do? They do what they do cos they are what they are. I hope you dont believe in black magic yourself. I belive that God is much more able to shield his people from such things.

Dont be racially biased too…..like black or white or brown. See, ultimately you are answerable to the mighty God on the judgement day and God knows our thoughts.

I thought Ishmalites are our brothers, not muslims….I dont know if muslims can be called ishmalites?? Did Ishmail have a promise or did Issac? We can be grafted into the body of Christ though promise, but I dont know if anyone can be an ishmalite (apart from the blood decendents of Ishmail) by becoming a muslim…I am not sure though.

I too had hatered to others before coming to the Lord. But the Lord opened my mind and eyes and showed me how big a sinner I myself was, and his need to save my soul.

If you further want to discuss you can mail me at cable_plug2000@yahoo.com

I was born in a hindu brahmin family, but now believe in the truth. I would like hindus to know the true savior just like you do…but I disagree with you over the hate you have for them.

May all the glory be to the only true living God and savior, our Lord Jesus Christ.

  13. Dear John Singh

I am writing an open letter to you . I happen to read your post on web. i many words you have made me feel ashemed. You are christian and strongly belive in your faith which is commendable. However being Indian as you claim perhaps you should read the schlarly artcles perhaps books. you will at once be amazed by there shear tolerance of Indians namely Hindus. as a Hindu I believe in more than one ways of to god if one believes in it and even if one does not, he or she is no less human or virtuous than a believer. I wonder where do you get such a bigoted opinion and hatered ?not from bible or other texts. No! No! it can not be the various zealous missionaries. Or am I mistaken? If you realy want to debate theology please contact me any time. You may need many life times. In short what believe in is very personal. it does not have to be laced with HATRERED TO belief of SCORES OF OTHERS

  15. A. S. Mathew

A couple of years back, I spent three days with Anil and Rena Kant
from Bombay (they are recording artists, produced “pray for India” and
well know in the film world) and asked him, why you became a Christian
from a Punjabi Hindu background? He said ” I wanted the bliss of
religion and I tried everything in religion, but nothing gave me peace
of mind.” Finally, he remembered the verse from the Bible because he
wrote music from the Bible verses; it was ” I am the way, truth and
life”. Until a person comes across with Jesus Christ and have a personal
relationship with Him, Jesus is like any other diety. But when a person
makes personal relationship, then Jesus will become real in his/her life.
Thousands of Muslims are coming to Jesus Christ and following Him
because of personal visions they could experience. It is natural for the
Hindus to get panic about the massive conversion all across India, it is
not done due to any allurement, but the people are starving to know the
truth, and the real truth and peace can be easily found in Jesus Christ
without spending one rupee. I love and pray for the Hindu friends
because they are sincere in their religious convictions and try to protect
their religion. The issue here is not spreading Christianity, but introducing
Jesus Christ to the whole world, and He loves Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists,
Jains and everybody else, even the anti-Christians.

  16. Mr Mathew,
Unfortunately the facts don’t fit with your rose-tinted image of what Christians are doing. Undoubtedly there are those who don’t use bribes and threats, but both are common. The Greek Orthodox church has been present in India for years without the problems that are happening now. There is strong evidence that weapons for Christian terrorist groups are supplied by groups in the USA.

As Gandhi said, there is nothing that Christianity can offer that is not already in Hinduism. If the message of Christianity is so convincing, perhaps you might wonder why 27% of Americans believe in reincarnation. Christianity rejected this belief for political expediency, and so lost part of the truth.

  18. john singh ….and others
i have been a part of all religions….so…therefore the knowledge i have gathered over the years doesn ot resonate amongst you. ALL DOCTRINES….claim that in order to be closer to god.humility….should come first.why ?
would you argue if u are armed with truth? Whats the need?…venom spewed from ones heart speaks for itself
GOD does not make mistakes….he brought u into this world
in the homes of parents that are christians , hindus, muslims..he knew why and still does know what you need for your advancement in spiritual life. If he made mistakes…then why would he give to others knowledge that is superior to what he give to me?
that would be unfair right.then he says in the bible we should honor our parents. how could we do that if we walk away from the things they taught us ..how can we be rude an tell them they are wrong for where their upbringing came.

  19. I haven’t got the time to read through the responses, but on the surface, some do not appear very helpful.

You ask however, “Why… don’t Christian missionaries target the UK?”

The plain truth is they do! In 2001 statistics Britain received 1,600 foreign missionaries in addition to the hundreds of home-grown home-ministering missionaries. These foreign missionaries represent 1 Christian missionary for every 37,500 Brits.

India has over 1,000,000,000 citizens and receives approximately 1,000 foreign missionaries – that’s 1 for every 1,000,000 people. There are however, over 25,000 home-grown Indian missionaries ministering to their own people. Added together the ratio changes significantly – 26,000 seeking to bring the good news to 1,000,000,000 is 1 for every 38,460 people. Very similar to the British rate!

Significantly, Britain does have a higher rate of those who call themselves Christian and a far higher ratio of churches – approx 1 church for every 2,000 people; whereas India has only 1 church for every 8,500 people.

So it seems to me that India still has the greater need, especially because well over 90% its people do not even claim to believe in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and that there are insufficient numbers of churches across the country and because anti-conversion laws stand in the way of free speech and freedom of conscience. Why should people be taught that their lives are a seemingly endless cycle of rebirths that offer no promise of escape? In that there is no hope of salvation.

Britain still needs more Christians from home and abroad to reach their own citizens, whether they are called Christian or anything else.

Jesus came into the world to SAVE sinners — people from every nation. And He accomplished that by dying on the cross, taking our sins upon Himself, and then being raised to new life! Once for ALL! All He requires from people is repentance and faith in Him.

May God reveal Himself to you through His Son Jesus!

    In Christ,

    John.

    • John,
Your post reflects the “convert at all costs” attitude so typical of Christians. You see it as better that someone should claim to be a Christian but never attend Church or think about it than for someone to be a devout member of another faith and seek to know God. The nominal Christians living a meaningless life, getting drunk every night (and there are many in the UK), never thinking about God are “saved” to you, whereas devoted non-Christian servants of God are not. To me turning someone from their faith, filling them with hate, getting them to say they are Christians then not caring about what they do because they are all ready saved is wrong. It harms the people and the societies they come from. In my view you would be doing a lot more good making the “Christians” who get drunk and puke up in the gutter every night to think about something spiritual than to try to spread this non-society to other countries.

May God reveal his true caring self, who loves all to you

      Chris

  21. Dear Chris,

Thank you for such a prompt reply. (My previous attempt on May 16/09 to send you this didn’t get through. A glitch on the web???)

I feel I should apologise, not so much for what I said but for what I did not say: “Not all who claim to be Christian truly believe or acknowledge Jesus as Lord.” This is a fact all around the world. The statistics cannot be FULLY relied on, but we can surmise that where there are more people who are called Christian there probably are more Christians.

In regard to drunkards, etc – there are drunk Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, atheists and I have even known a Muslim whose death was attributed to his alcoholism! Yes, there are people who get drunk who are included in some statistics as Christian, and yes there are real Christians who get drunk — but I would contend that the VAST MAJORITY of people whom you see who ‘get drunk and puke up in the gutter every night’ are not FOLLOWERS OF JESUS! By the way, there are many Christians who do try to help such people as these – targetting them, if you will. The Salvation Army is famous for its work in this and similar areas.

Now there are very pious people who acknowledge God in some form. But it is only when somebody truly acknowledges Jesus as Saviour and Lord, repenting of their sins, and not seeking to earn favour with God through some self-righteous acts can they really be accepted by God. ‘Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life, no one comes to the Father without Him;’ ‘Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.’

May the True and Living God bless you immensely by His grace,

    John.

    • Dear John,
God is not partisan and does not limit his love to those of one faith.
      Namaste
      Chris

      • You are so right, Chris! God’s love is for all mankind — His Word teaches that he sends rain (showers of blessing) on the just as well as the unjust.

There is only one God and only One way to Him. God will not share His glory with another — He is the Sovereign Lord and Creator — therefore all worship is due unto Him. Having said that, He has made the path plain and simple. God requires that we repent of our sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ alone as Saviour. No arduous tasks, no ceremonial washings (the Bible clearly says baptism doesn’t save), no special diets, no prescribed abstentions (apart from wilful sinning), no sacrificial offerings — simply having faith that Jesus has done all to save all who have faith in Him.

If you would like to continue this via email I would be delighted to explain things in greater detail.

        God bless you my friend!

        John.

        • John,
I don’t think there is any point in continuing this conversation, by email or otherwise. I used to be a Christian, you have nothing that you can tell me that could shake my faith in a true and loving God that I have found in Hinduism. I know the truth and can identify lies. You obviously can’t see the contradiction between a “God for all mankind” and one who eternally punishes those with the “wrong” belief. I think that Jesus’s teachings were probably good, but the church has done its best to cover these over the centuries for political reasons. The church likes a message of “do nothing but join us”. It is like a trainer for a race saying “don’t bother to get fit, just join our team and there is a promise that you will win”.

I think that this has done much harm in many ways. I acknowledge that there are some Christians who believe in a good, universal and loving God, but fundamentalists do their best to portray these as “not true Christians”. Instead of trying to discover God and form a true relationship with Him there is an imperative to convert others at any cost, be that disrupting peaceful societies or historically by burning to death those who might “teach the wrong message”.

I hope that you will look at your faith and that held by others and ask yourself why you think that God would want to chose some and not others, irrespective of which are kind, good, generous and merciful or unkind, evil, grasping and vicious.

          Aum shivarpanamastu
          Chris

  22. Hello All,

I am Surya Mishra. I just came across the site and found the debate, over time, is quite interesting over all, leaving aside the lengthy passage to go through.

Although I have not changed my religion, I used to visit church to get the message; enjoy love of Jesus. Also, I find visitors at my door step of all hue from Christianity, with a hope of giving me God’s message. I participate and invite at times for debate. Also, I have lots of Muslim friends and enjoy their company.

To all of them I say about my not giving up my original religion, but feel as if part of their religion as well. What is wrong?, if one has understood the essentials of all such religions and able to establish the commonality(barring food habits and costumes etc.) for one to take in then what is false in it?

There is falsehood, if we deliberately look into the difference and compare and try to establish ownership of the religion then problem would cause, like John Singh described. I have many Christian friends from India, Punjab with whom I used to visit church with my Hindu family and yet continue following Hinduism. There is no where written that I should make others Hindu, if I am Hindu or make others Christian if I am a Christian. Yes, I should give the good news, the Message of God; which is what there in all such religion. But followers have taken the urge upon them selves to find the difference, if someone disagrees with them and attempt to establish superiority in the name of religion. Jesus was not a Christian when he gave the Message neither was he preaching for Jews. He was only proclaiming the truth, the love of God, the Almighty Father.

It is the fellow followers who claimed for Christianity and identified themselves as Christian (or others identified them as so). Jesus had only said to give God’s message. Human followers started owning them by saying message of Christ is only belonging to Christian and not even ready to hear from others, even if the message appears to be same. It is all God’s message; more important is whether we follow it or fight over it.

Every religion started as philosophy, sermon, delivered by Prophets those noble souls felt the Truth in their heart about GOD. The message came at a time and place when (and where) the society was facing depression; the society was at lowest ebb of general feelings; and the message provided rejuvenation to all such depressed souls. The message came from God given knowledge; but was having in essence the customs of contemporary life, the food habits and life-style essentially described for common understanding…in the process delivering such philosophy and bringing amity to the society, the souls became close to God the Almighty; thus part of God…the incarnation of God.

The fact is that religion does not belong to me rather I belong to religion, if I believe in it. Truly speaking the essentials of all religion is to get introduction of God to oneself, and realise Truth in it. When one understands the existence of God and gets Truth of the message, there is no need of religion. I repeat there is no need of religion, if one feels the presence of God.

This introduction of God is true conversion within oneself; if one has already got converted there is no need of religious conversion; if one has not realised this conversion (introduction to God), then there is no point in getting converted to any such religion(s). With introduction to God, you will feel the presence of God and you; and rest are creation of God, reflection of God; after this stage, the religions will not create barrier or obstacle in one’s mind….that one, the ‘self’ will march towards God very steadily, even without one’s knowledge. That is the attraction of God. There is no religion standing between God and yourself; only one thing is there until one attains God; that is Truth. That Truth is the passage, beyond all religions…heading towards God. That is all. Once you reach, you submerge, without control of your mind. Thereafter…He orders and you just do; hence you become part of Him.

Then you will serve any one, whether someone is Christian or Hindu, or Muslim, or Buddhist…it hardly, matters.

With evolution, the world integrating is the most current development; so also the religions. It happened with India over last thousand years; although Buddhism, Jainism were much prior philosophy came out as branches of Hinduism, but Hinduism has been evolving and for last 1000 years came across other religions of elien origin like Islam and Christianity(one of apostles of Christianity was St.Thomas was in India as early as Christ time, 1st century). Swami Vivekananda’s teacher Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa Dev was having both Muslim and Christian teachers, visiting him across Ganges, before he was taught with tantrik method of worship from the old lady teacher and finally had Totapuri from Punjab to teach him about Hatha yoga.

With so many teachers, from various religions, he made his student to visit west to bridge the spiritual gap between east and west; bringing Hinduism to west yet appreciating God’s message from all such philosophy….serving the Mankind for better, not digging the leg into religious difference.

    Thank you.

    _Surya Mishra

    Hi ,
Your post is interesting.I will come back later to read some more.meanwhile I thought you might find the above link both interesting and topical to your post.It gives the views of lady who is a very much Indian who happens to be a Christian.

I had also some run ins with evangelists, which really shook my view of Christians as friendly people.

  24. A Very Happy Deepavali To you and your family.

  25. All the white hindus are welcome …………………………………….

  26. The view of a True Sanathani Hindu : A Hindu is a Hindu!(race,color,caste,creed doesn’t matter)

No conversions required. You believe in the Supreme Eternal Brahman and live a pious life and that is enough.

  27. Its amazing to see How much Christians and Muslims are ready to die, kill, debate for their “religion”.

As a Hindu i wouldn’t even care to reply them 🙂

I can give answers to all their doubts and queries, but i know they will keep their eyes and ears shut. So no use in replying 😀

  28. Dear Chris:

As a former Christian, now in a new religion, you have
some deep rooted vendetta towards the Christians
as a whole. I am not talking about ” Christianity” but
    about Jesus Christ.

You may visit some of these websites: http://www.karma2grace.com, http://www.southasianconnection.com. [edit by western-hindu: These sites are not what they claim to be, see comment response below]

There you can find several people came from Hindu,
Muslim, Jain and Sikh faiths, and following Jesus Christ. Most of them
are highly educated and successful people in different
field of life. You can contact them, and they will tell their
personal experiences of life. You are simply conducting
a non-win fight against something which you will not
win. My friend, be realistic, and I pray for you.

    • You couldn’t be more wrong. Many of my friends and family are Christians. It is those who believe that Christianity merits conversion at any cost that I have an argument against. It is interesting that you accuse me of this, yet the first website you provide is typical of the misrepresentations of many Christians. Making out to be a “balanced discussion” it is obviously carefully controlled by evangelicals. Note that the life stories page, far from being balanced, shows only stories of those who converted to Christianity, where are those of Christians who converted to other faiths.

The sad thing is, the Christians making this site probably think that this type of misrepresentation and lying about being balanced is good, or that the end justifies the means. A Hindu would know that if they break the restraint of Satya (truth) then they would have to accept the consequences. These Christians presumably believe that lies will be rewarded – at least this is an improvement on earlier Christians who thought that killing others was justified.

As for Jesus, I believe that contrary to the teaching of the Church, Jesus was a genuine guru who taught people about right living. As a Christians posted recently:

Strangely, we have come to a moment in human history when the message of the Sermon on the Mount could indeed save us, but it can no longer be heard above the din of dueling doctrines. Consider this: there is not a single word in that sermon about what to believe, only words about what to do. It is a behavioral manifesto, not a propositional one.

yet three centuries later, when the Nicene Creed became the official oath of Christendom, there was not a single word in it about what to do, only words about what to believe!’
      Robin Meyers

In the whole Bible you will not find any condemnation of the Romans, Greeks or others for having a different belief, though the Church has made this a major part of its teaching. Now there are some real Christians who have seen through the teachings of the church and really follow the teachings of Jesus. I have a lot of respect for these, but you won’t find them trying to spread the word through lies, or bring others from religions that respect truth and light and encourage them to lie to others.

  29. Well Said.
Whether you are a Hindu/Christian/Moslem/Jew/Other realise your innerself first and focus on the essentials of Spirituality.
Scientifically NO religion is superior or inferior.Just a path of destiny for your Soul.
Believe in that.Live and Let live.Good and bad people exist in every religion This is the truth.
Planets,Stars,Rivers,Animals and Birds follow the rules of the Nature and fulfill their existence in this universe.Seek the truth.
Seeking the truth should be the underlying concept.

  30. Christian Missionaries target India becuase In India there exists poverty,no education, hunger disease suffering etc…
Also there exists a naked truth called Upper Caste Versus Lower Caste socio-economic-politico equations.

Educate Indians upto an optimum level then no missionary can dare touch Indians.
Without education these conversions will go on in India.
OR Ban religious conversions it should solve the Problems to some extent.
My question is Who will bell the cat?[The equation mentioned above]

  31. All Abrahamic CULTS are essentially violent. No one needs any proof to prove this.

Out of all 4 Abrahamic Cults, CHRISTIANITY is the most violent.

Christianity taught all others that WARS can also be religious.

This CULT is responsible for decimation of hundreds of world cultures in the world.
